Libya's climate & when to visit
Libya has a Mediterranean climate along the coast — hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters in Tripoli, Benghazi and Misrata. Inland and southern cities like Sabha are desert, with very hot days and cooler nights.
The most comfortable months for travel are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November), when coastal temperatures sit in the pleasant low-to-mid 20s°C. Summer brings coastal highs of 30–35°C and much hotter conditions in the south; winter is mild on the coast but can be cool and rainy.

Weather across Libya
Libya's weather divides into two zones. The coastal cities — Tripoli, Benghazi, Misrata, Zawiya, Tobruk and Bayda — have a Mediterranean climate: hot, dry summers from June to September, and mild, wetter winters from December to February. The interior and south, including Sabha, are true desert, with intense summer heat, large day-to-night temperature swings, and very little rainfall year-round.
For travellers, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most comfortable seasons on the coast, with daytime temperatures typically in the low-to-mid 20s Celsius. If you are flying to Tripoli, Benghazi or Misrata in summer, expect coastal highs of 30–35°C; in the south around Sabha, summer daytime temperatures regularly exceed 40°C.
طقس ليبيا اليوم
ينقسم طقس ليبيا إلى منطقتين. المدن الساحلية — طرابلس وبنغازي ومصراتة والزاوية وطبرق والبيضاء — ذات مناخ متوسطي: صيف حار وجاف من يونيو إلى سبتمبر، وشتاء معتدل وأكثر مطراً من ديسمبر إلى فبراير. أما الداخل والجنوب، ومنها سبها، فمناخها صحراوي بحرارة صيفية شديدة وفروق كبيرة بين النهار والليل وأمطار قليلة جداً على مدار العام.
بالنسبة للمسافرين، يُعد الربيع (مارس–مايو) والخريف (سبتمبر–نوفمبر) أفضل المواسم على الساحل، بدرجات حرارة نهارية في منتصف العشرينات المئوية. وإذا كنت تسافر إلى طرابلس أو بنغازي أو مصراتة صيفاً فتوقّع درجات ساحلية بين 30 و35 مئوية، بينما تتجاوز الحرارة النهارية 40 مئوية في الجنوب قرب سبها.
